Larijworks is situated along the historical mile in Simon’s Town. The shop, with its nautical feel, showcases the works of talented artists in the area, specialising in handcrafted model boats.
From intricately, precision built sailing ships built to scale, to miniature replicas of fishing vessels still in use in the neighbouring quaint fishing village of Kalk Bay, Larijworks has something for any model boat enthusiast.
Artist, photographer and wooden yacht restorer Henry Larij Werkman’s art pieces create the predominant ambience. His wooden half models and sailing yachts capture’s his love for the ocean and passion for working with wood.
Other artist works include wire work, modern fibreglass yachts, rope work as well as unique décor pieces made from sand, shell and seaweed moulded in resin.
The old sail ships made painstakingly to scale are built from scratch and can be made to order if the one required is not in stock.
All things beautiful must include the quality products made by Nocturnal Affair, also a local company. The cotton lounge and sleepwear as well as the lifestyle products add to the delightful shopping experience in this small, but very unique shop.
The emphasis on natural creations made out of wood, cotton, sand, shell and rope with a touch of stainless steel allows for a new, sophisticated twist on a traditionally inspired theme.
Larijworks also do custom corporate gifts as well as nautical inspired décor pieces installed in the house or boat.
